A woman has suffered head injuries after allegedly being dragged from a bus and assaulted during a robbery involving two children.
Queensland Police allege the woman was boarding a bus at the intersection of Flinders Ln and Fraley Ln in Townsville, Queensland, just before 7.35pm on Tuesday, when two 11-year-old children pulled her from behind.
She fell onto the concrete platform before allegedly being assaulted while on the ground and having property stolen.
The woman sustained lacerations and head injuries.
Emergency services treated her at the scene before she was transported home.
Officers arrested a 11-year-old girl a short time later and charged her with robbery in company using personal violence.
Police bail was refused, and she is due to appear in Townsville Children’s Court on Wednesday.
A second 11-year-old was also arrested and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
The alleged robbery comes as Townsville faces renewed calls for tougher youth crime measures, following concerns over youth violence, with police continuing to investigate serious offences involving children across Queensland.
