Terms of Service

Last updated 26 September 2026. This is plain-language, not a substitute for legal advice, and Creditcrest Technologies Pty Ltd has not yet had it reviewed by a lawyer — treat it as a description of intent rather than a finished legal document.

1. What this is

Mundane Read is a reader site, browser extension and API operated by Creditcrest Technologies Pty Ltd, ACN 702 318 778, ABN 80 702 318 778 ("we", "us"), which has registered Mundane Read as its business name. The reader site publishes articles reported elsewhere, rewritten to remove the verdicts and the evaluative language, or summaries of them where the publisher does not allow more, always with a link to the original. The API sells the same scoring engines — bias indicators, the neutralizer, fact-check triage, headline fidelity, omission detection — for programmatic use. Using either means you accept these terms.

2. Reader accounts

Reading without an account is capped each day, and the count resets at midnight Sydney time. A free account removes that cap. It needs only an email address: each time you sign in we email you a six-digit code that works once, for ten minutes. Repeated wrong codes lock sign-in for that address for a period that grows with each lockout. Keep access to your email account secure; anyone who can read it can sign in as you.

We may end or suspend an account used to abuse the service — scripted mass-downloading of articles through the reader site rather than the API being the clearest example.

3. The extension subscription

The browser extension scores 7 articles a week for free. A subscription, A$6.99 a month or A$69.99 a year including GST, removes that limit for the extensions connected to your account. A subscription is for one person: it covers up to three browsers connected at a time, and connecting another disconnects the one used least recently. It renews automatically until you cancel, and cancelling stops the next renewal; see refunds and cancellation. The weekly count is kept by the extension on your device. We may change the price for future periods with at least 30 days' email notice, and you can cancel before it applies.

4. API access and billing

API access is pay-as-you-go: no monthly fee, billed at the end of the month for the calls actually made, at the rates published on the pricing page, which is generated from the same table the gateway meters against and cannot disagree with what you are charged. Billing is handled by Stripe; we do not receive or store your card details. Anything beyond these terms (self-hosting, indemnity, custom volume) is agreed separately, in writing, and documented in the agreement you sign, not here.

API keys are shown once, at creation, and stored by us only as a hash — losing a key means issuing a new one, not recovering the old one. You are responsible for keeping your key confidential and for usage billed against it, including usage by anyone you share it with.

5. Acceptable use

• Do not attempt to bypass metering, rate limits, or the reader account cap.
• Do not use the API to build a service that resells raw engine output as your own scoring product without a licence to do so — buying the API is a licence to use the scores, not to redistribute the scoring service itself.
• Do not use the neutralized article feed to republish full source-outlet text; it is summaries and links, and full republication may infringe the original publisher's rights regardless of what we license.
• Do not attempt to identify or deanonymize the anonymous reading-cap cookie against other data.

6. What the indicators are and are not

Every score is a measurement of a document's language, published with the spans of text that produced it. None of them measures whether an article is true, and fact-check results are other organizations' published ratings, attributed and linked, not our adjudication. Full detail on what each indicator claims and what it explicitly does not is on the method page, which these terms incorporate by reference. Where our own judgement is wrong, it is logged in the public corrections ledger — we do not remove or quietly edit past errors.

7. No warranty, limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is". We do not warrant that scores, summaries, or the article feed are accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose, including editorial, compliance, or legal use — engines can be wrong, and the corrections ledger exists because they have been. To the extent permitted by law, Creditcrest Technologies Pty Ltd is not liable for decisions made on the basis of output from this service, and our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose (or to $0 for the free reader tier and the free API tier, which is what was paid).

8. Changes

We may update these terms or the pricing they reference. Material changes to pricing are never retroactive to calls already billed. We will update the date at the top of this page when it changes; continued use after a change is acceptance of it.
