Alerts on your phone
Off unless you turn them on here, for this phone or browser only. You choose what is worth an interruption; everything else waits on the site.
On an iPhone or iPad, alerts work once Mundane Read is on your Home Screen. In Safari, press Share, then Add to Home Screen. Open Mundane Read from its new icon, and come back to this page there (it is under Settings, and at the foot of every page).
This browser cannot receive alerts from a website. Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Samsung Internet can, on a phone or a computer; so can Safari on a Mac, and on an iPhone once the site is on the Home Screen.
Notifications from this site are blocked in this browser. Allow them in the browser’s settings for mundaneread.com, then reload this page.
What to expect
- Nothing between 9pm and 7am, by your own clock.
- A story is sent once. Nothing repeats, and nothing is sent to bring you back.
- The words are the headline as we publish it and the newsrooms that reported it. Nothing is written for the alert.
- What is sent is decided by how many newsrooms filed, never by what anyone tapped.
- No account is needed, except to be told about the stories you follow.
What we keep
The address your browser gives us to deliver alerts to, the key that makes them readable only by your browser, what you chose above, and your time zone. Turning alerts off deletes all of it. An alert travels through your browser maker’s delivery service (Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft), encrypted so that the service cannot read it. More in the privacy policy.
