A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed at a train station in Western Sydney .

Emergency services received reports of an assault at Blacktown Train Station about 10.20pm on Saturday.

Police arrived soon after to find a man, believed to be aged in his 30s, with a stab wound to his arm.

He was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Police were told the man was involved in an altercation with another man, armed with a knife, which spread frmo the platform and onto the tracks.

The other man had left the station before police arrived.

Footage from the scene shows officers speaking to several people at the station and searching around a stopped train.

Anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers to aid ongoing investigations.
