A 18-year-old Queenslander has been charged with extremist offences after allegedly running social media channels supporting violence against Muslims, Jews and migrants.
Police said the investigation was sparked by a report from the FBI alleging an Australian user was spreading extremist content on a social media platform.
Officers from the Queensland Joint Counter Terrorism Team executed a search warrant at a home in Warner, north of Brisbane, on May 27, seizing several electronic devices.
It is alleged the man was operating multiple social media channels supporting violence against people of Muslim, Jewish, and migrant backgrounds.
Police said forensic examination of the devices allegedly revealed extremist content and child abuse material.
The man has been charged with 30 offences including using a carriage service to transmit violent extremist material, using a carriage service to harass or cause offence, and possessing or controlling child abuse material.
He first appeared in court on May 27 and was remanded in custody.
He is expected to reappear in Pine River Magistrates Court today.
