ARN has today announced the line-up for its new KIIS FM breakfast show, with vet turned TV host Dr Chris Brown an addition to the new hosting trio.
After months of speculation about what would replace the axed Kyle and Jackie O show, the radio network confirmed Brown along with radio personalities, Amy Gerard and Jack Charles, will join forces for a brand-new Sydney breakfast show.
The show titled KIIS Breakfast with Chris, Amy & Jack will launch in November, with ARN revealing it will “deliver a bold new format full of fun just for Sydney”.
“Expect big KIIS entertainment moments alongside the unpredictable and energetic experience of a new team out to charm Sydney audiences,” ARN said.
After months of court battles with axed employees, Kyle Sandilands and Jackie “O” Henderson, ARN said the show will be an “exciting change” for listeners.
Brown, who has become a familiar face on television, said he is looking forward to sharing a “few secrets” with his new audience.
The vet has fronted Channel 7 shows Dancing With The Stars and My Reno Rules and now “can’t wait” to step into the new radio gig.
“Waking up with the city I love and bringing a huge dose of real life, warmth and (hopefully) humour is truly a dream come true,” Brown said.
“This show will be all about sharing our mornings, some laughs and maybe a few secrets together. I can’t wait.
“Plus, these hours are also a great way to beat the Bondi Road traffic so it’s a win-win.”
Brown will host the new segment alongside Gerard, who has been a regular fill-in host on KIIS shows, and radio personality, Charles.
“I’m genuinely pinching myself that I get to be part of this show. The chemistry between Chris, Jack and I already feels so natural, it’s fun, unpredictable and there’s a very good chance we’ll be completely unhinged before most people have had their first coffee,” Gerard said.
“I’m pumped to be joining KIIS Breakfast and waking up Sydney every morning,” Charles added.
Michael Stephenson, Chief Executive Officer of ARN, said this was a “big moment” for ARN and the future of KIIS Sydney.
“We’ve brought together big names and fresh new talent to create the best content for radio, video, social and in real life experiences,” Stephenson said.
“We have the biggest radio brand in the country, and we now have a team that is building something very special for listeners and creating big, new, integrated opportunities that brands will love.”
The new hosts will be joined by broadcaster and producer Natalie Penfold as the show’s newsreader. Penfold previously worked on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
Sandilands and Henderson’s large 10-year, $200 million contract with ARN Media was terminated following an on-air dispute, leading to a legal battle and subsequent cash settlement for Sandilands.
Sandilands has since launched his own subscription-based show, while Henderson’s unlawful termination lawsuit is ongoing.
Monday’s announcement marks the first reveal of ARN’s new KIIS breakfast line-up, with the Melbourne team to be announced soon.
KIIS Breakfast with Chris, Amy & Jack launches on November 9 and will run from 6-9am weekdays.
