The Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso will be set for a return to Anfield after his side beat Leeds last week, with the Reds knocking out Tottenham on Tuesday.

Alonso, who won the Champions League with Liverpool as a player during a distinguished spell, was touted as a possible replacement for Arne Slot, but went to Stamford Bridge instead.

Fleetwood’s reward for making the fourth round of the League Cup for the first time is a home tie with Arsenal.
